Andrew Marlin Marble

Andrew is here! He was born Thursday, April 8th, at 6:08 am. He weighed 8 lbs and 14 oz. He was 20 inches long.
I woke up at 3:45 and I thought ok...that was a contraction...
I woke Chris up at 4:30 and told him that I think I am in labor and we should probably get ready to go to the hospital. Chris woke up his mom and said, "I think we're having a baby today." I was thinking, " I am going to freak out! I am going to freak!" Chris grabbed a chair and gave me a blessing and one of the first things he said was I bless you to be able to remain calm.
We got to the hospital at about 5:00 and checked in. As we were walking up to the maternity ward I was still doubting if I was really in labor or not. I got in the hospital bed at 5:20. The nurses were getting me all situated with the monitors and stuff. The nurse wanted to check my progress to see where I was. I told her that I go from a 4 to a 10 really, really fast. She said I was at a 4. I was completely shocked. I said a 4...and I was so happy. Then one of the nurses tripped and broke one of the monitors so they had to replace it. After that got taken care of 2 nurses came in and one had a list of medical questions to ask me and the other one wanted to put my iv in. I had a contraction that hurt. I knew I was in real labor then. Then I had a 2nd contraction and it really hurt. I was a little bit scared. Chris was talking to me and he said that I was good at this and I was getting close. I told him that that one had a lot of pressure. Fran asks me if my water broke. I had to think about it and replied, "no." The one nurse is still asking me questions (annnnnnnoying)and says, "Are they starting to get intense?" The other nurse decides that she should check my progress and gets a glove :0 (tmi) She is standing there and my 3rd hard one came, she's waiting, glove on...watching me, hand in air, waiting to check me. I say...my water is going to break and he is going to come. I start to moan and tell Chris that I really DON'T WANT TO DO THIS. He says to them, "she's ready, he's coming." Nothing from the nurses. Chris pulls the blankets off my legs and says again, "He's coming!" The nurse looks and says he's crowning and they both start moving...One nurse tells me to slow down and breath. I tell her I can't. More like...I CAN'T!!
Chris is telling me his head is out, I'm done...I'm like..."I want him ALL the way out he says, " I know." And out he comes on the bed. He is just laying there crying. I tell the nurse that I want him. So they hand him to me and I am so happy. The nurse says, "You really know your body, That was REALLY fast." I check to see if he is really a boy. :)
I'm shaking and my eyes are stressed. They want to cut the cord, but I ask them to wait and they do. My Dr. didn't make if-of course. Dr. Anderson comes in and assists with the rest, the placenta and cord and my 1 stitch. (again, tmi) Hard part about that for me...he's in my ward. Oh well. He was very nice. Then I am really glad I am on the other side of the pregnancy and labor.

Good to hear it all went well, and that you both are doing so well. Only one complaint--I need to see some pictures!
