20th Anniversary

We had a great anniversary...
Brianne had a game in Logan, so we decided to drive up there and watch the game-even though we knew she probably wouldn't play. (she's jv)
Anyway, I got Chris tickets to Brian Regan, he has a show March 13th in SLC. That should be so much fun!
Later that day, when we are leaving for Logan and he turns on the radio. It's "Smile" by Uncle Kracker, but that is not who is singing. It is Chris!!! He took the girls to Randy's house, his boss, and made me a CD. He sang about 6 songs and the girls sang "Unwritten" and then Chris and Lexi sang "Jackson" by Johnny Cash. They performed it at a dinner for the MTC a few months ago and did a fabulous job! So at first I am just singing along and then I stop and listen, and turn and look at Chris and then start to cry. It was SO awesome. It is the best gift I could have ever received! He also sang a song in Italian, and he sang "Lady" and a few others. I haven't been able to listen to it again...it's been in the truck and my CD player broke. :(
On the way to Logan we ate at The Cheesecake factory. YUMMY!!
I really can't believe that Chris made me a CD. I am so happy. I feel so much love from him. I feel like that was such a special way to express his love to me. It just really means so much to me. I will cerish that CD for many, many years to come.

I haven't mentioned a funny from Bubba in a long time...so here are two...
When we decided to go to Logan we knew it would be a late night so we decided to bring the boys with us. I was talking to Bubba and I told him that daddy and I were going on a date and that we wanted him and Nico to go with us. He got this funny look and said. "I am not going on a date with you and dad." Then I explained we would be gone for a long time and we just really wanted them to go with us. He looked at me again and said,"I guess I'm going on a date with Nico."

Chris and Bubba and I were watching the Olympics...ski jumping. Chris had to run an errand, so we (actually, now that I think about it...I think it was the night he went to Randy's) anyway, so Bubba and I were watching and we watched the winner...I was like look, he went the farthest, he is in first place, HE WON THE GOLD!! Bubba turned to me and said..."Mom, it's just not fun without daddy." Ha ha!!

Baby Andrew (baby #9)

Where to begin?
I went in for my ultrasound at 20 weeks... The Dr. said everything looked good, but that he couldn't get all the data that he wanted so he wanted me back in 2 weeks. I thought, cool, I get to see the baby again. Then I had a Dr's appointment in December, and they couldn't "find" my chart. I didn't think anything of it. Later that night the Dr called and dropped the bomb. (OR at least it felt like it to me at the time.)
He said that there was a light spot on the baby's heart, a calcium deposit. He said the spot meant a chromosomal abnormality. He said that when he first saw me, he said my chances of having a baby with problems was 1 in 50, and now it was 1 in 40. He wanted me to see a specialist and have another ultrasound. I spent that night crying and crying. I really didn't know what it all meant-I wasn't expecting that kind of information. I felt like they weren't upfront and honest with me from the start.
Chris came into the room while I was on the phone and he had no idea what was going on and why I was crying. He was so great. He said it didn't change anything, we would love this baby no matter how he came. That he was perfect. He held me and let me cry.
I looked up the information that I had been given on the internet and basically it meant that it was a soft indicator for Down's.
Chris gave me a blessing and in the blessing I was told several things. I was told that I was strong enough to carry this baby and that my body could and would be strong.
I was told that our Heavenly Father loves me. And that He is a God of healing. He is there for me and aware of me, but that I needed to ask for the things that I needed. I needed to demonstrate my faith in Him and come to Him. But that he was there, waiting.
It was an incredible experience for us.
We were planning our trip to AZ, but I couldn't think about anything else. I was waiting to hear from the Dr. and I didn't know if my appointment would mess up our plans for our vacation. I finally heard from the Dr. at about noon the next day. My appointment was for Jan. 5th. (yesterday) I was able to get it together and we were able to go on our vacation. Even though it was still always there in the back of my mind.
I told Emily, Lexi and Brianne about the baby and why I was crying and what I was going through. They all had the same response. They all said, "oh, ok." "We love special needs."
I was trying to figure out why I hadn't responded the same way they all had. Why I hadn't responded like Chris had. I was a bit down on myself for my own reaction. Also, I was struggling with what to pray for. If the Lord saw fit to send me a baby with Special needs, then I didn't want to change that. I wanted to pray for me to have the strength to do the Lord's will. Whatever it was-or is.
I talked to Whitney, like within hours of finding all of this out, and she was very supportive and said that we would all love this baby. He was coming to a big family that would love him and take care of him.
I was able to talk to my family while in AZ. I told Fran first. I wasn't sure if I wanted to share all of this with everyone. But it just sat there in my brain, all the time. Finally, I just let it out. I felt so much better to share it with them and feel so supported. Cheryl, Debbie and Jen all helped me a lot. Debbie put my name in the Temple and Chris put the baby's name in the Temple.
Then in Tucson, I shared my thoughts and feelings with Melanie. We had a great talk and I really appreciate the time we had together to talk through my feelings.
Anyway, the point is, I wasn't sure I wanted to share my problems, but when I did, I felt supported and lifted and they seemed to lighten the load. My mom and sisters (and sister-in-laws) were all great.
I also had a good talk with my dad and he said there was nothing wrong with praying for both, the baby and myself. That I needed to tell the Lord what I wanted, but that I also needed to be strong and willing to accept His will, whatever it was.
Many of my family members fasted on Sunday for little baby Andrew.
I went to the Dr. yesterday and had another ultrasound. Chris and I feel much better now. The specialist was much more direct and forthcoming with us. He looked at the baby and said that he didn't see any other indications of an abnormality. He said that 2 of his boys had light spots on their hearts too. He said there was a problem if it caused the heart not to close right or if it caused the blood not to flow right. Both things are ok. The heart closes fine and the blood flows fine too!! He also said to look at this as a birth mark instead of a birth defect. We were offered an amnio and also genetic counseling, but we chose not to do either of them. I didn't want to risk preterm labor with an amnio. He said that we could look at our glass 98% full or 2% empty. I feel very different today. I am going to look at this glass, this baby as healthy. We will find out in about 13 weeks, when he is born. :) p.s. He is 2 1/2 pounds.
I am thankful for this learning and growing experience. I am thankful for my loving and supportive family that is there for me. I am thankful for all the prayer and the fasting in behalf of my family. I hope they continue to the end.
I can't wait to see what the future holds for my family.
I am thankful for my loving Heavenly Father who is there for me and looking over me.

Christmas

We were able to go to AZ for Christmas this year.

I didn't take any pictures of our trip. OOPS!
We spent Christmas Eve with Chris' family and then Christmas with his mom and Fred.
The kids were all very eager to get their gifts-once they figured out what they were. It was too funny!!!
We were able to go to the Temple with Melissa and Craig. That was fun, we were all there together. (most of us)
We saw Sherlock Holmes at night, some of us slept through it. It was a good movie though.
We spent some time with the Morely's. That is always a treat. Then we headed for Tucson.
We went to the Mission Office and had lunch with GG and Gpa. There were lots of hikes and fun adventures. I didn't participate in any of them.
Melanie took the big girls for a photo shot and they had the time of their lives!!
She also took Lindsey for a few days, to stay with Hannah. That was fun for her.
Me..I did nothing. I loved every minute of it! I learned a new game. "Greed" or "Zilch" that was fun. If ever I went missing, you could find me napping somewhere.

Thank you Fran for letting us stay with you-

Thank you Hillman's for letting us stay with you too!

We love you all and had a fabulous trip.
No one wanted to come home and now that we are, everyone wants to go back. :)

THANKSGIVING!!!

Thanksgiving was great!
We've had Lexi home with us-so that is the best!!!
We got together with the Bellistons. That was lots of fun. I love how they ooh and ahh over everything the boys do. It is so fun. Ashlee and Bryce were there too, they are so cute. We got to see Marlin and Kage for about an hour. That was a good surprise.
We had a yummy feast, complete with seven layer salad (Lindsey made it) and pistachio salad. (Brianne made it) And of course, pie! Banana cream (Samantha made it) Chocolate pie (Lindsey made it) and 2 oreo pies (Lexi and Emily made those) With everyone pitching in, we really pulled it off-way to go Guys.
Of course we missed our AZ family a lot. We love all of you so much. It's been a long time since we haven't gone to AZ for Thanksgiving.
Chris made his first turkey-EVER! He did a great job. (Thanks mom)
I am thankful for this holiday season to remember to have gratitude in our lives.
I am thankful for Chris-being so willing to help out. The girls being so willing to help out.
And of course, I am thankful for all the yummy food we got to enjoy.

November 25th, 2009

I am thankful for the scriptures. I enjoy reading them and getting that lift everyday.
I know it is one of the most important things I can do.

Today I was reading in the D&C. (section 59) I read different then most people I think...
I read the footnotes and I write it all down. I only got through 4 verses, (vs. 6-9) but I learned a lot from the footnotes.
I had 2 favorites: Psalms 34:1 "I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth."
And James 1:27 "Pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is this, To visit the fatherless an the widows in their afflictions, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."

November 24th, 2009

I am grateful for the opportunity to see our baby! He looks healthy, he has his fingers and toes and looks good. I am grateful for the peace that information brings to me. I am grateful to be carrying this child and to be a mom. AGAIN!! :)
I am shocked that it is a boy. Seriously, shocked!
We are thinking about naming him, Andrew Marlin.
We will let that float around and see how it feels.

Let's see, I already mentioned Chris, I've mentioned my children, my family and friends...even my horse.
I think I am going to say: Donny got a perfect score!
That really made me happy today.
I am grateful for something fun that happened that made me happy today.
The end.

My bestest bud in the whole wide world! AUDRA!!
I got to talk to her today!
I am so thankful for her friendship. She is everything I want to be.
We have lots of fun together and we don't have to be doing anything.
We canned peaches together and made salsa and it was so fun being nerdy homemakers together.
When I talked to her tonight she said something that made me happy. She was being asked if I knew what my baby was and she said, "Not yet, or I would know." I know that is not really a big deal, but it is to me. It just shows me that she is confident in our friendship. :)
Bubba talks about her son all the time. He wants to play with him. Or he had a dream about him that totally cracked him up. Actually all of our kids get along well together. Camille and E---, Lindsey and C---and A---, Sam and Em and C----, even Nico and M---. All we need is a 9 year old boy. (the names have been omitted to protect the innocent)
She is like a sister to me.
